Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and mapping exercises, which include identifying hazards, vulnerability analysis, and mapping at-risk areas. Support generating accurate risk maps and data for informed decision-making with experts in geospatial analysis, remote sensing, and GIS (Geographic Information System).
Enhancement of Early Warning Systems
Develop and enhance early warning systems for various types of hazards (flooding, drought, heatwaves, sea-level rise, etc.). Establish monitoring networks, install sensors and gauges, develop forecasting models, and integrate communication systems for timely dissemination of warnings to at-risk populations.
Capacity building of vulnerability assessments and response personnel
Build capacity of vulnerability assessment process and climate vulnerability modeling, down-scaling to the regional and local levels. Provide training for search and rescue operations, including techniques, guidance on equipment requirements, development of standard operation procedures, and establishing coordination mechanisms among rescue teams. Provide training for hazard-specific emergency response planning, formulating standard operating procedures, identifying roles and responsibilities, and emergency response protocols. Provide training, workshops, and mentoring to enhance skills in risk reduction, emergency response, and disaster recovery. This includes knowledge transfer and exchange programs to facilitate the sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
