Introduction

As Parties transition from the existing measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) arrangements to the enhanced transparency framework (ETF), support for developing countries is critical to facilitate successful implementation.

Consistent with its mandate, the Consultative Group of Experts (CGE) provides technical advice and support to developing country Parties and facilitates improved reporting over time in relation to the preparation and submission of national communications (NCs), biennial update reports (BURs) and biennial transparency reports (BTRs).

In that context, the side event will provide a platform for the CGE members, country representatives and participants to share their views on providing support in addressing technical and capacity building needs of developing countries in transition from MRV to ETF.

This side event aims to:

    • present the CGE’s support to developing country Parties and upcoming activities in 2023;
    • present the latest findings of the CGE’s capacity-building needs assessment report;
    • present and discuss the lessons learned and experiences of developing countries in their transition from MRV to ETF; and
    • hear directly from the audience on any new and emerging areas that require technical assistance and support.
