Media accreditation for COP 25 is closed.  Following closure of the online registration system, we will now commence with review of the applications received by the deadline and notify applicants accordingly.  Regrettably, we are not in a position to accept new applications.

  • Media representatives already registered may download a new acknowledgement document which indicates the location is now Madrid.

Upon arrival at the venue for the first time, you will be requested to proceed to the registration desk to collect your badge for access to the conference premises. The acknowledgement letter for the participant’s nomination, available upon confirmation in the online registration system, and a valid passport or a nationally approved identification card should be presented to the registration staff for the issuance of your badge.

From Friday, 29 November to Friday, 13 December: 08:00 – 19:00 hrs
The conference venue, including registration, will be closed on Sunday, 8 December.

Early registration, before Monday, 2 December, is highly recommended to avoid delays on the first day of the conference.

An official UNFCCC conference badge is needed to access the premises. For security reasons, all participants are requested to wear their badges visibly at all times.

The taking of still photographs and making of audio or video recordings within a United Nations designated conference venue are subject to guidelines and any other guidance or instructions deemed relevant by the
secretariat or United Nations Security.

The secretariat of the UNFCCC and the Government of the Kingdom of Spain are working on procedures to facilitate the issuance of visas in order for participants to attend COP 25 in Madrid.

For visa applications, a new confirmation letter indicating the new location of the Conference is available in the “Online Registration Letter” within the Online Registration System. Participants who have already registered can download the new confirmation letter and apply for a Schengen area visa accordingly.

All participants with a confirmation letter from the Online Registration System (ORS) can apply directly, without previous appointment at Spanish embassies and consulates.

The Government of Spain is aware of the concerns of participants who cannot easily reach a Spanish embassy or consulate, and is dedicated to resolving these cases as soon as possible.

The Government of the Kingdom of Spain has appointed Bco Congresos as the Official Housing Bureau for the United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in IFEMA-Madrid from 2 to 13 December 2019.

Participants are strongly encouraged to obtain comprehensive international medical insurance for their period of participation. The United Nations and the UNFCCC secretariat disclaim all responsibility for medical, accident and travel insurance, for compensation for death or disability, for loss of or damage to personal property and for any other costs or losses that may be incurred during travel time or the period of participation.

Additionally, participants are personally responsible for any and all materials that they bring onto the conference premises. The United Nations and the UNFCCC secretariat disclaim all liability and responsibility for the loss, destruction or theft of any such materials.

In the interest of the security and safety of all participants and the smooth running of the conference, the UNFCCC secretariat reserves the right to deny and/or restrict access to the conference premises or to request registered participants to leave the premises. The UNFCCC secretariat shall not be responsible for any or all expenses incurred by nominated participants who are requested to leave the premises or are refused registration or access to the conference for which they have been nominated and/or registered as participants.
