The Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) is conducting regional training workshops on national adaptation plans (NAPs) as part of its work programme for 2016–2017. The training workshops are designed to support countries to advance in their NAP process beyond the training conducted during previous regional training workshops. The workshops are designed and tailored for each region through the support of an advisory group. The advisory group is composed of representatives and/or experts from the respective countries, United Nations organizations, bilateral agencies, regional centers and networks, and other international organizations that work on adaptation in the least developed countries (LDCs) from the respective regions. This workshop is the sixth in the series.
Objectives of the workshop

To provide technical guidance to countries in addressing the objectives of the process to formulate and implement NAPs;

To provide technical support in selected methodologies and tools relevant to the process to formulate and implement NAPs based on the UNFCCC technical guidelines;
-
To enhance understanding of procedures for accessing financial support through existing funding mechanism such as the Green Climate Fund and the Global Environment Facility;
-
To provide a platform for countries to share experiences and lessons learned and to promote good practices in adaptation planning;
-
To promote collaboration at the regional level and integrated approaches that address local to regional as well as short to medium- and long-term approaches to adaptation action.
