Abstract

The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), at its twenty-first session, invited Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties) that have not done so to provide to the secretariat, by 1 August 2005, available data and information on changes in carbon stocks and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from harvested wood products, in a transparent manner. It also invited Annex I Parties to submit to the secretariat, by 1 August 2005, updated data and information on harvested wood products and on experiences with the use of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC) Revised 1996 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and the Good Practice Guidance for Land Use, Land-use Change and Forestry to generate such data and information. The secretariat has received four such submissions. In accordance with the procedure for miscellaneous documents, these submissions are attached and reproduced in the language in which they were received and without formal editing. The SBSTA also requested the secretariat to compile the information on harvested wood products contained in previous submissions from Parties specifically on harvested wood products, and in national GHG inventory reports, for its consideration at its twenty-third session. This information will be contained in document FCCC/SBSTA/2005/INF.7.
