At the resumed first session, Parties shared views on the general understanding and expectations of the work, followed by detailed discussions under each sub-item. The views expressed by Parties during this discussion were captured in an informal note (336 kB) by the co-facilitators of APA item 3 Ms. Gertraud Wollansky (Austria) and Mr Sin Liang Cheah (Singapore)
Prior to the resumed first session of the APA, the secretariat organized under the guidance of the APA Co-Chairs and chaired by the co-facilitators of APA item 3 a round table to further advance the work under this agenda item. The APA agreed that the pre-sessional round table helped in facilitating a better understanding of, and clarifying Parties' views on APA item 3 and its three sub-items and further provide useful inputs to the negotiations under the APA.

Taking into consideration the content of the informal note prepared by the co-facilitators on this item, invited Parties to make, by 15 September 2017, focused submissions, including on the elements and issues outlined in that note and on how they would be reflected in the guidance, without prejudice to further work under this agenda item.
Parties are invited to submit their submissions on APA item 3 through the UNFCCC submission portal.
Non-Paper:
Requested the persons who facilitated discussions under this agenda item at APA 1.3, with the support of the secretariat, to prepare, by 15 October 2017, a non-paper capturing convergence, divergence and options, where appropriate, based on Parties’ views expressed in the submissions referred to in paragraph 11(a) of the APA conclusions, without omitting, reinterpreting or prejudging Parties’ views.
Pre-sessional round table on APA item 3, 6 May 2017
Requested the secretariat to organize, under the guidance of the APA Co-Chairs, a round table, to be held on Monday, 6 November 2017. The round table should be facilitated by the persons who will be designated to facilitate discussions at APA 1.4. The round table should also provide an open and constructive environment to further advance the work under the three sub-items under this agenda item and take into consideration the submissions and the non-paper referred to in paragraph 11(b) of the APA conclusions.
