Background
The event was jointly organized by Climate Group, WRI India and Race To Zero - The UN Climate Change High-Level Champions.
Climate Group is an international non-profit, publicly launched in 2004, with offices in London, Amsterdam, New Delhi, New York and Beijing, and with a presence in Latin America. Our mission is to drive climate action, fast. Our goal is a world of net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with greater prosperity for all. We do this by forming powerful networks of business and government, unlocking the power of collective action to move whole systems such as energy, transport, the built environment, industry and food, to a cleaner future. Together, we’re helping to shift global markets and policies towards faster reductions in carbon emissions.
WRI India is a research organization that turns big ideas into action at the nexus of environment, economic opportunity and human well-being. At WRI India, we combine research, analysis and tools, along with direct engagement with decision-makers, to bring about sustainable change. All of our program teams draw upon cross-cutting disciplines - business, governance, finance and economics – to further their analysis and recommendations.
The UN Climate Change High-Level Champions are spearheading the race to a cleaner, safer, healthier and more resilient world. Through their campaigns, Race to Resilience and Race to Zero, they are elevating ambition and mobilizing credible climate action among cities, regions, businesses and investors. Race To Zero is a global campaign rallying non-state actors – including companies, cities, regions, financial, educational, and healthcare institutions – to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer zero carbon world.
The session aimed to showcase subnational and local climate actions from the global south and how these are driving regional and global climate action.
