The prestigious environmental award has tapped RCC Kampala to seek ambitious climate solutions to scale up
In February 2022, RCC Kampala is supporting the Earthshot Prize by seeking inspiring, inclusive and impactful solutions for nomination. The Earthshot Prize is a global environment prize designed to incentivize change and help repair our planet over the next ten years. RCC Kampala encourages partners and regional stakeholders throughout Eastern and Southern Africa to share ambitious solutions that are making a difference on climate change by 21 February.
Each year, the global search for winners of the Earthshot Prize begins with nominations. The Earthshot Prize aims to turn the current pessimism around environmental and climate issues into optimism by highlighting innovative solutions and inspiring collective action.
In its second year, the Prize has expanded and established a diverse and experienced group of over 300 official Nominators from every region of the world. The Nominators network includes representatives from NGOs, academia, corporations, government and community-led organizations. RCC Kampala is proud to join this illustrious group.

By submitting nominations to the Earthshot Prize, we are a part of a global network identifying innovative solutions that take the world towards a more sustainable and climate resilient future.”
The 2022 Earthshot Prize winners will be showcased on a global platform to amplify their work, as well as receive £1 million to support and scale up their solution. The Prize is focused on five ‘Earthshots’ – simple but ambitious goals for our planet which, if achieved by 2030, will curb climate change and improve life for current and future generations:
- Protect and restore nature
- Clean our air
- Revive our oceans
- Build a waste-free world
- Fix our climate
Do you have a solution that is inspiring, inclusive and impactful? To be considered for nomination by RCC Kampala, please submit your climate solution to RCCKampala@unfccc.int by 23:59 p.m. EAT (GMT +3) on 21 February 2022.
Please note that the Earthshot Prize focuses on solutions that are beyond the pilot phase and can be rapidly scaled or replicated. This means submitted solutions must be well beyond the idea stage but may still have development requirements before they are ready to scale their impact. Supported by a panel of independent experts, the Earthshot Prize Council will select the five winners.
