Launched in 2007, Caring for Climate (C4C) is the UN Global Compact, UNEP and the secretariat of the UNFCCC initiative to advance the role of business in addressing climate change. It provides a framework for business leaders to implement practical climate change solutions and help shape public policy. Caring for Climate works at scaling up its initiatives through the 80+ Global Compact Local Networks and the Caring for Climate Strategic Partners (CDP, The Climate Group, PRI, UN Foundation, WBCSD).

Chief executive officers who endorse Caring for Climate are prepared to set GHG emissions reduction targets, develop and expand strategies and practices, work collaboratively with other companies and governments, and publicly report and disclose emissions on climate performance on an annual basis. To join, the CEO endorsement of the C4C Statement is required.

The Caring for Climate Business Forum is held every year at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP/CMP). It is a two-day event with plenaries, thematic break-out sessions and high-level meeting. For transparency and disclosure, C4C issues an annual progress report that track signatories’ progress on the commitments in the C4C Statement.

To date, Caring for Climate has over 450 medium and large business participants from 65 countries, representing 30 sectors.
