Submissions on NAPs

 

COP 21 (December 2015) invited Parties and relevant organizations to submit to the secretariat, by 1 February 2018, information on their progress made towards the achievement of the objectives of the process to formulate and implement NAPs, experiences, best practices, lessons learned, gaps and needs, and support provided and received in the process to formulate and implement NAPs. All submissions are available on the submissions and statements portal http://www4.unfccc.int/sites/submissionportal/Pages/Home.aspx.

Submitted NAPs

 

Parties have been invited to forward outputs, including national adaptation plan documents, and outcomes related to the process to formulate and implement national adaptation plans, to the NAP Central (decision 3/CP.20, paragraph 9). The submitted NAPs are available at http://www4.unfccc.int/nap/Pages/national-adaptation-plans.aspx.

 

Responses to online questionnaire

 

By its decision 4/CP.21, the COP requested the SBI to assess progress made in the process to formulate and implement NAPs at its forty-eighth session (April–May 2018), with a view to making recommendations thereon to the Conference of the Parties, as appropriate. By the same decision, the COP invited Parties to provide information to inform the assessment by the SBI, guided by an online questionnaire. Below is a compilation of responses provided by countries based on the questionnaire. The questionnaire is accessible at http://www4.unfccc.int/nap/Pages/assessingprogress.aspx.

Country presentations at NAP events

 

The Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) mobilizes and provides a platform for countries to present on their work on NAPs at its NAP related events – e.g. workshops, NAP Expos and side events. Annual progress reports on NAPs

 

A report progress in the process to formulate and implement NAPs is produced annually, to cover updated information on the progress of Parties in the process to formulate and implement NAPs, including on support provided and received, as communicated by Parties, United Nations organizations and other agencies, in accordance with decision 5/CP.17, paragraph 36, and the work programme of the LEG. The COP requested the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) to assess progress made in the process to formulate and implement national adaptation plans (NAPs) at its forty-eighth session (April–May 2018), with a view to making recommendations thereon to the Conference of the Parties, as appropriate. The data and information below to underpin the assessment has been compiled to facilitate sharing with all relevant actors and players and to ensure that the analysis and the subsequent assessment are based on a common pool of evidence.
