University of East Anglia

Contact: Tom M L Wigley
Tel: +1 303 497 2690
E-mail: wigley@ucar.edu

Description and demonstration of PC-based, user-friendly software for the development of scenarios of future climate change and for the quantification of uncertainties at both the global-mean and regional level. The global-mean component uses the MAGICC coupled gas-cycle/climate model, which is the model that was used to make the projections of global-mean temperature given in the IPCC Third Assessment Report (TAR, Ch. 9). Users can emulate TAR results or expand these to other emissions scenarios. The SCENGEN components translates the global-mean projections to regional scale (gridpoint) results using results from 17 different coupled Atmosphere/Ocean General Circulation Models. The uncertainty analysis allows results to be given in probabilistic terms.
