The present note is a summary compilation of the data on greenhouse gas emissions and removals for the period 1990 to 1996, as provided by 21 Annex I Parties in their annual national greenhouse gas inventories received by 15 October 1998. Due to the late submission of many of the inventories the present note provides an overview of the information and a full report will be prepared for the tenth session of the subsidiary bodies. In addition to providing the data in tabular format on greenhouse gas emissions and removals, this note highlights key trends and also considers the manner in which the information was reported, including issues such as timing of submissions, reporting formats used and completeness, consistency and comparability of the data
