Policy brief: Aligning National Adaptation Plans, Nationally Determined Contributions and Adaptation Communications
Publication date: November 2024
|
Abstract
The least developed countries (LDCs) expressed the need for technical assistance in identifying the linkages between national adaptation plans (NAPs) and nationally determined contributions (NDCs). The Conference of the Parties (COP) at its twenty-seventh session requested the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) to enhance the support provided to the LDCs for aligning
NAPs and NDCs.
This paper is aimed at providing an overview of the linkages between NAPs, NDCs and adaptation communications. It discusses the benefits and recommendations for their alignment and shares some insights on the experience of the LDCs in linkages between their NAPs and NDCs. The paper builds on existing publications and reports, as well as analysis of the NAPs and NDCs of some LDCs and the views and experience shared by the LDCs through a survey conducted in July 2024 by the LEG.
