All formalities regarding registration, including issuance of badges to duly nominated participants to attend the sessions, are free of charge.
Who can register
Parties to the Convention, United Nations and related organizations and agencies, media and non-profit organizations with observer status may register to attend the sessions of the Convention. More information on options for participation is available here.
How to register
Registration for the conference is managed through the UNFCCC Online Registration System (ORS), which has opened on 6 February 2025.
Notifications on SB 62 registration for Parties and observer States, for United Nations organizations and specialized agencies as well as for admitted intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations, are available here.
It is important to note that multiple registration for the conference is not permitted (i.e. registration as an observer organization representative and a Party or State representative and/or press/media representative).
Please note that it is prohibited to trade or sell your registration to attend a UNFCCC conference, meeting or workshop, including a COP, and may lead to permanent suspension of your registration.
Changes to the registration system and process
The UNFCCC secretariat has introduced updates to the registration of conference participants, with the aim to increase the transparency of participation in the UNFCCC process. Detailed information is available here.
Collecting conference badges
To be issued a conference badge, all participants must be duly registered as indicated in the section “How to register” above.
Upon arrival at the venue for the first time, participants are requested to proceed to the registration desk to collect badges for access to the conference premises. The acknowledgement letter from the online registration system – printed or on mobile device – and a valid passport or a nationally approved photo identification card should be presented to the registration staff for the issuance of badges.
For subsequent visits to the venue, with an already obtained badge, participants may access the venue directly through security, without stopping at the registration desk.
Note:
Delegates nominated by observer organizations will be able to pick up their badges on 14 and 15 June 2025. However, only those delegates participating in the pre-sessional meetings taking place on the WCCB premises will be permitted to enter the venue after having picked up their badge.
Registration desk open hours:
United Nations Campus (for pre-sessional meetings only)
Tuesday, 10 June to Friday, 13 June: 08:30 – 17:30 hrs
WCCB
Saturday, 14 June to Sunday, 15 June: 08:30 – 17:30 hrs
Monday, 16 June to Thursday, 26 June: 08:00 – 17:30 hrs
(Except Sunday, 22 June – conference premises closed all day)
Early collection of conference badges before Monday, 16 June 2025, is highly recommended to avoid delays on the first day of the conference.
Daily badges for IGOs and NGOs
For SB 62, integrated daily badges will be available to IGOs and NGOs. Additional information can be found here. The deadline for confirmation of delegates is 15 June 2025, at 23:59 hrs (CET). Please note that in order to request non-consecutive days for a delegate, Designated Contact Points (DCPs) must specify the desired dates via the ORS Communication tab. Further information can be found in the ORS Integrated Daily Badge System Manual under section C. Questions and Answers (FAQs), item 8.
The demand for observer badges for SB 62 has reached approximately 12,500 from 1,100 organizations, while the allocation is capped at 2,000. This represents a significant gap between demand and availability, reflecting space and security constraints at the SB 62 venue. For comparison, COP 20 received 11,824 observer badge requests and issued 3,500 badges.
At the same time, the number of organizations registering for the subsidiary body sessions has been steadily increasing. SB 58 hosted 649 registered observer organizations, and SB 60 saw 783. For SB 62, around 1,100 organizations have registered – nearly double the number from SB 58 – highlighting the continued growth of observer engagement in the process.
Virtual-only registration
Virtual-only registration is open for SB 62. Through the UNFCCC Online Registration System (ORS), delegates from Parties, UN organizations, specialized agencies and observer organizations can register for virtual-only participation. This option allows access to relevant UNFCCC meetings remotely, provided the session is open to the respective delegate and offers online participation.
Please note that online access will be limited to negotiation meetings and mandated events only. Virtual participation in other events, such as side events, will not be available through the platform.
