Meetings of the COP 20/CMP 10 Presidency Designate

The President-Designate of COP 20/CMP 10, Mr. Manuel Pulgar-Vidal attended the October session in Bonn. At the opening plenary meeting of the ADP, Mr. Pulgar-Vidal called on Parties to work simultaneously on several issues:  1)  On intended nationally determined contributions - to arrive at a possible consensus around the content, spectrum, best way to incentivize and ensure information is clear, transparency and understandable; 2)  To focus on the similarities, in content and form on the elements of a draft text for negotiations; and 3) Conclude the week with a careful review of workstream 2.  Read statement

At the Bureau meeting on 20 October, the President-Designate informed the Bureau of his plans for the Lima Conference, including his vision to build confidence in the process, bringing Parties closer together, and working closely with Presiding Officers to achieve consensus on key issues at the Lima Conference. He also referred to the Secretary-General’s Summit in New York and the contributions from civil society. The President-Designate noted that the organizational arrangements are being put in place, and he thanked the COP 19/CMP 9 Presidency for their work and legacy.

The COP 20/CMP 10 Presidency-Designate also met with all Presiding Officers in preparation for the Lima Conference. During the October sessions, the COP 20/CMP 10 Presidency-Designate will continue to hear views of Parties and Groups and ensure that progress continues in the lead up to the COP 20/CMP 10 in Lima, Peru.
