Marie-Alexandra Veilleux-Laborie, Country Director for Morocco, EBRD

With a 15-year experience in banking and private equity overseas, Mrs. Marie-Alexandra Veilleux-Laborie is a passionate for private and financial sector development in emerging markets. She has successfully led major advisory and investment projects and took part in the governance bodies of leading financial institutions.

Marie-Alexandra started her career as a consultant at Ernst & Young Paris, where she advised French and international leading banks in their external growth in emerging markets. She joined the EBRD in 2007, where she led several direct and indirect equity transactions, as well as debt financing for the benefit of Eastern European, Central Asian and Russian financial institutions.

From February 2013 to April 2017, Marie-Alexandra set up and led the EBRD’s Greenfield activities in Tunisia, opened 2 offices there and built up a team of 17 staff. During her mandate, the EBRD provided funding to over 30 projects for a total of EUR 350 million, mainly in the financial and private sectors, as well as provided technical assistance to more than 320 SMEs through a dedicated technical assistance initiative (programme \\'Advisory for Small Business \\').

Since last February, Marie-Alexandra took over the leadership of the Bank’s activities in Morocco, where the EBRD has financed close to 30 projects totalling EUR 1.2 billion and advised 330 SMEs. She currently seats at the Advisory Board of a leading private equity fund in the Maghreb Region.

A dual French and Canadian citizen, Marie-Alexandra is a graduate of HEC Paris and Sciences-Po Paris.
