The Executive Committee (Excom) was established by Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Warsaw in November 2013, in order to guide the implementation of functions of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage associated with Climate Change Impacts (the Mechanism).
The task entrusted to the Excom by the COP in Warsaw is to develop its initial two-year workplan for the implementation of the functions outlined in paragraph 5 of Decision 2/CP.19, taking into account the issues outlined in decision 3/CP.18, paragraphs 6 and 7, for consideration at the 41st sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (December 2014).
Within this context, the Excom would like to invite inputs on behalf of government/organization to share with us any relevant inputs for the Excom’s initial two-year draft workplan for the implementation of the functions of the Mechanism, in accordance with paragraph 5 of Decision 2/CP.19.
Such inputs may relate to views on deliverables, activities, or any other elements for the workplan, so that the Excom can take into consideration, including at its next meeting which is currently planned to take place on 31 July and 1 August 2014.
The meeting will be webcasted and open to observers, and is held with the intention of finalizing the draft workplan at the end of the meeting.
We would be most grateful if you could provide us with the requested relevant inputs by
1 July 2014 to (loss-damage(at)unfccc.int)
The inputs received will be made available online prior to the next meeting of the Excom.
We thank you very much in advance for your support to our work.
