Technical workshops related to Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement

The Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement at its fourth session as per decision 6/CMA.4 requested the secretariat to organize:

  • A workshop on the draft version of the agreed electronic format as an input to the work of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) with a view to SBSTA finalizing a recommendation on the agreed electronic format for consideration and adoption by CMA 5;
  • A workshop to enable the participatory sharing of views on potential challenges participating Parties may face in addressing different elements of the initial report and to support the identification of related capacity-building needs. Issues identified at the workshop will serve as an input to a technical paper by the secretariat on potential considerations in the preparation of the reporting on elements listed in the initial report for consideration by SBSTA 58 with the view to, where appropriate, making recommendations to inform the preparation of a manual by the secretariat containing illustrative elements of information for the initial report;
  • As part of the capacity-building programme, referred to in decision 2/CMA.3, paragraph 12, at least one virtual workshop on the use of the reporting outlines and tables, particularly in relation to the completion and submission of initial reports.

The workshops on the draft agreed electronic format and on potential challenges participating Parties may face in addressing different elements of the initial report will take place as back-to-back hybrid workshops in Bonn.
