The seventh informal forum of the CGE aims to showcase the work of the CGE and seek feedback from the stakeholders on how its work be further reinforced to address the main challenges, constraints and needs of developing country Parties. Further, it will serve as a platform to hear directly from the audience on any new and emerging areas that require technical assistance and support. The informal forum will also aim to exchange views on the support opportunities available on the ground via other support providers with a view to exploring how these efforts could complement each other.
The sixth informal forum of the CGE aims to showcase the work of the CGE and seek feedback from the relevant stakeholders on how its work be further reinforced in a manner that addresses the main challenges, constraints and needs of developing country Parties. Further, it will serve as a platform to hear directly from the audience on any new and emerging areas that require technical assistance and support. The informal forum will also aim to exchange views on the support opportunities available on the ground via other support providers with a view to exploring how these efforts could complement each other.
Showcased existing and upcoming CGE materials and activities;
Provided a platform for participants to have more in-depth discussions with CGE members on addressing difficulties in preparing transparency reports and transitioning from MRV to ETF;
Further collected feedback on CGE’s support to developing countries and their preference for topics of 2023 CGE capacity-building activities.
The 4th informal forum showcased the work undertaken and achievements of the CGE in 2021 and engaged with and seek feedback from its key stakeholders, including:
Country experts and policy makers who are key drivers of MRV/transparency efforts nationally;
Bilateral and multilateral agencies providing financial and/or technical support on MRV/transparency;
Other international organizations providing financial and/or technical support on MRV/transparency; and
The 3rd informal forum showcased the work undertaken and achievements of the CGE in 2020 and engaged with and seek feedback from its key stakeholders, including:
Country experts and policy makers who are key drivers of MRV/transparency efforts nationally;
Bilateral and multilateral agencies providing financial and/or technical support on MRV/transparency;
Other international organizations providing financial and/or technical support on MRV/transparency; and
This forum increased awareness of the importance of institutionalizing GHG data management; promoted exchange of best practices, practical experiences and lessons learned in institutionalizing GHG data management; and further improved understanding of constraints and challenges, and the depth and needs for further capacity-building efforts.
Improved understanding of what are the key developments under the Convention and the Paris Agreement in the areas of MRV and ETF, and their implications to developing country Parties;
Improved understanding of what are the existing and emerging constraints, challenges and needs of developing country Parties in the implementation of the existing MRV arrangements and the transitioning to the ETF under the Paris Agreement;
Provided an overview of the landscape of support opportunities available to developing country Parties for the implementation of the existing MRV arrangements and the transitioning to the enhanced transparency framework under the Paris Agreement;
Promoted networking amongst developing country Parties seeking support with those entities that are in a position to provide the support needed;
Served as a key vehicle for the CGE to strengthen its engagement with the relevant stakeholders and facilitate delivery of impactful technical support and advice to developing countries.
