Background
RES4Africa Foundation envisions the sustainable transformation of Africa’s electricity systems to ensure reliable and affordable electricity access for all. Our mission is to work towards creating favorable conditions for scaling up investments in clean energy technologies in Africa, with Africa, for Africa. In the 10 years that have passed since the creation of the Foundation, the place occupied by Youth in the international debate has shifted dramatically. In that light, it is key to scale-up youth engagement. Youth are Africa’s greatest asset, with both the youngest population and the fastest growing youth population in the world. In 2020, 258 million Africans were aged 15-24, a number expected to more than triple and reach over 830 million by 2050. From this perspective, RES4Africa identifies the youth and young entrepreneurs as an essential component of Africa’s sustainable energy future and is committed to support innovators through capacity building and mentoring activities.
