The Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (WIM) is the main vehicle under the UNFCCC to avert, minimize and address loss and damage associated with climate change impacts, including extreme events and slow onset events, in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to climate change. This year, its Executive Committee (ExCom) launched three new expert groups, and with the two expert groups that have been already in operation, the ExCom now has arrangements for technical support in all its five strategic workstreams.

This event will showcase the progress in the implementation of the workplan of the ExCom and its expert groups and discuss opportunities for the broad range of stakeholders to contribute to the upcoming thematic activities to assist actions in averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage.
