This session will encourage participants to think critically about what transparency is. Many link transparency to reporting and the international process. The webinar and subsequent discussion will revise that statement and explain the actual connection to NDCs and its ramifications at the national level. The contributors will present the benefits of transparency identified in the paper “National Benefits of Climate Transparency” and real country cases of national benefits through transparency, highlighting the experiences in Peru and Tunisia.

The Webinar will be jointly presented by the UNFCCC’s Transparency Division and the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement (PATPA), who work in close collaboration to inform, advocate, and support transparency issues among UNFCCC parties. Their most recent joint publication “Benefits of Climate Transparency” provides practical up-to-date insights into the advantages for countries of developing robust transparency systems.
