Over the years, the need to understand the impacts of the implementation of response measures which are manifested within the environment, social and economic dimensions of economy has been acknowledged to maximize positive and minimize negative impacts of response measure. SBSTA and SBI, taking note of the discussion on needs expressed by some Parties for capacity-building for the assessment of the impacts of response measures at their 47th session, invited the secretariat to collaborate with relevant intergovernmental and international organizations to raise awareness with a view to enhancing capacity building programmes or activities for Parties in order to maximize the positive and minimize the negative impacts of response measures, with a view to informing the in-session discussions. Parties also included "assessing and analysing the impacts of the implementation of response measures" and "facilitating the development of tools and methodologies to assess the impacts of the implementation of response measures" as two of the four work programme areas on response measures (Decision 7/CMA.1).

With an aim to raise awareness, in this virtual event/webinar experts will share their work and opportunities related to assessment and analysis of response measures including use of methodologies and tools for the assessments. The event will be for about 90 minutes. The exact date is still subject for confirmation and to be determined.
