Background
International Renewable Energy Systems (IRES) Inc is a clean energy company based out of Alberta, Canada, with expertise in end-to-end energy maturation and delivery with a focus on renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind and hydropower.
Our vision is to facilitate the transition of a million homes, businesses, and communities to clean energy by 2050. We work with homeowners, businesses, and communities to identify the most optimal clean energy solution applicable to their situation using innovative approaches and technologies to build a clean, sustainable, and viable energy future for all stakeholders and the environment.
We invest in advanced technologies enabling the participation of remote and last-mile communities in the energy transition through the deployment of scalable clean energy solutions deployable for residential and commercial applications.
Objectives

To facilitate an intergenerational dialogue to share experience, knowledge, and insights on the role of capacity-building in enhancing the National Adaptation Plans

To engage with relevant stakeholders from across sectors, regions, and institutions directly involved in the delivery of the National Adaptation Plans especially in the energy space.

To share opportunities for introducing innovation and scaling up actions by collaborating with other actors, combining climate efforts and expertise at the national level; especially those aligned with low-carbon and climate-resilient development strategies.

To amplify the rich diversity of voices in capacity building and enhancement of the National Adaptation Plans from developed, developing and least developed countries.

To exchange knowledge and information around the good practices, tools, and case studies of contribution to the achievement of the National Adaptation Plans, identifying capacity-building gaps and needs, as well as solutions for addressing those gaps and needs.

Key outcomes
- Emphasized the importance of climate legislation, calling for legal support to ensure that a just transition takes place robustly with no expenses of the environment.
- Shared experience of building capacities of access to markets and financial services, to reduce waste and overproduction, and to strengthen adaptation in a way that best suits local needs.
- Stressed the importance of a backup plan in an adaptation plans. A resilient system should never fail because of one single point. Sectors such as electricity and transportation should never face a black swan event.
