NDC Partnership

Background

The NDC Partnership plays a crucial role in supporting developing countries in mobilizing adaptation finance by providing tailored assistance and connecting governments with the necessary expertise and resources. With over 200 members, including 115 countries and 80 institutions, the Partnership fosters collaboration to help nations implement their NDCs, particularly in areas related to climate adaptation. By addressing country-specific requests, the Partnership ensures that governments have efficient access to technical assistance, funding, and knowledge that enable them to transform their climate priorities into actionable investments.

This session will focus on overcoming the challenges faced by decision-makers in developing nations when mobilizing adaptation finance. The NDC Partnership will introduce its Climate Investment Planning and Mobilization Framework, including an adaptation supplement, as a tool to help countries plan and mobilize finance effectively for their adaptation goals. This framework will offer a blueprint for aligning NAP and NDC investment planning, ensuring that countries are better equipped to navigate the climate finance landscape and develop programmatic approaches for finance mobilization, addressing critical capacity gaps identified within the Partnership. Members of the NDC Partnership will share their experiences and insights, providing a valuable opportunity to learn from their successes and challenges in mobilizing adaptation finance.

Objectives

  • Enhance stakeholder knowledge and capacity in aligning NAP and NDC investment planning and mobilization processes.
  • Showcase the benefits of synergizing and leveraging NAP and NDC efforts to maximize investment outcomes.
  • Highlight key elements of adaptation finance mobilization, including capacity development, stakeholder engagement, evidence-based investment needs identification, prioritization, and financial planning.
  • Provide diverse perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in mobilizing finance aligned with NAP-NDC priorities.
