Draft conclusions by the Chairman

  1. The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) welcomed the

oral reports made by the secretariat and by representatives of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention), on possible linkages between UNFCCC and other conventions, taking into account their respective mandates.

  1. The SBSTA welcomed the efforts of the secretariat to explore possible ways of

strengthening cooperation with the secretariats of other conventions on issues of common interest and invited the secretariat to keep it informed of the outcome of these efforts at subsequent sessions.

  1. The SBSTA requested the secretariat to liaise with the secretariat of the Convention on

Wetlands on the specific issues identified in the oral report delivered by the representative of that secretariat in order to determine how cooperation between the conventions could be strengthened. The SBSTA further requested the secretariat to report back to it on this matter at its twelfth session.
