SUBSIDIARY BODY FOR SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL ADVICE

At its eleventh session, the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice decided to recommend the following draft decision for adoption by the Conference of the Parties at its fifth session:

The Conference of the Parties,

Noting the conclusions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice at its eleventh session (FCCC/SBSTA/1999/L.15),

• Expresses its appreciation to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, particularly its authors and scientists, for the high quality of its work;
  
  
• Notes with concern the urgent appeal for additional resources by the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change;
  
  
  • Urges Parties, intergovernmental organizations, [including the Global Environment Facility,] and other organizations in a position to do so, to contribute financial support early and generously to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, to enable it to complete its third assessment report and special reports, in view of their importance to advancing the Convention process.
