Statements were made by the representatives of nine Parties, including one speaking on behalf of the Asian Group. The latter expressed her Group's deep concern that it had not been possible to agree on the election of officers of the SBI; despite the flexibility shown by the Asian Group, one other group had maintained its interest in keeping the position of
Vice-Chairman for a fourth term even though it had held that position since COP 1. She stated therefore that the Asian Group would renew its candidature at the next session of the SBI.
