The number of Parties completing Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs) has more than tripled since the publication in April 2006 of the
first synthesis report on
technology needs identified by non-Annex I Parties.
This significant increase in the number of TNAs provided a platform for a more detailed and comprehensive review of technology needs identified at the
regional level.
The second synthesis report, published in May 2009, contained some regional overviews of technology needs, focusing on regional differences as well as
opportunities in
Africa ,
Asia and Pacific,
Latin America and the Caribbean, and
Europe and Commonwealth of Independent States.
At the country level, Parties' needs were assessed based on their economic situation. Since these vary considerably, two more analyses were undertaken in
Least Developed Countries and the
Small Island Developing States.
Newly compiled tables and graphs displaying technology needs for both mitigation of, and adaptation to climate change can be found under the links above.
