The Expert Group on Technology Transfer

Bruce Wilson (Australia) was newly elected as Chair and Nagmeldin Goutbi Elhassan (Sudan) as Vice-Chair of the EGTT for 2010.

The Expert Group on Technology Transfer (EGTT) held a special meeting in Sydney, Australia, on 22 and 23 February to initiate some of the activities included in its programme of work that was endorsed at Copenhagen in December 2009. One of these activities involves preparing the terms of reference for options on how to facilitate collaborative R&D on environmentally sound technologies. In Sydney, the group further discussed areas where a possible update may be needed to the work programme, taking into account the technology outcomes at COP 15 in Copenhagen.

In addition, the EGTT continued its dialogue with the business community, following two dialogues held in 2009. It focused on support for technology deployment, as well as further engagement of the business community in technology development and transfer issues under the Convention.

The fifth regular meeting of the EGTT is scheduled to take place on 27-28 May 2010 in conjunction with the thirty-second sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies.
