With entry into force of the Paris Agreement under the UNFCCC, countries move progressively towards getting ready for its effective implementation. In the context of supporting developing countries’ nationally-determined actions to address climate change and achieve sustainable development, the role of South-South and Triangular cooperation becomes more important.
The workshop is organised by the UN Office for South-South Cooperation, the UNFCCC Technology Executive Committee and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research in conjunction with the Latin America and Caribbean climate week, held in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 20 to 23 August 2018.
The workshop aims at enhancing the understanding and awareness of the potential of South-South and Triangular cooperation in the Latin America and Caribbean region, and gain insight on how to make full use of the critical and complementary role of South-South and Triangular cooperation to overcome shared challenges and accelerate progress towards sustainable development and implementation of the Paris Agreement.
