On 27 June 2017 in Benin, a training workshop was held to assist 12 African countries in conducting technology action plans. Participants also discussed ways to monitor the implementation of technology needs assessment results.

- Assist countries in conducting their technology action plans (TAPs) so that they contain all the elements of bankable action plans. The existing TAP guidance will be the leading document for this assistance. Success stories from the Phase I countries will be also presented.
- Discuss the methodology for monitoring (tracking) the implementation of technology needs assessments results, with a focus on TAPs. Participants will receive draft guidance to monitor the implementation of their TAPs. The draft methodology will be discussed and tested with a view to produce a final version to be considered by the Technology Executive Committee at its fiftheenth meeting in September 2017.
- Explore the adaptation potential of the TNAs, seeking for synergies of the TNA and national adaptation planning processes of developing countries. Countries‘ experiences in using adaptation technologies in adaptation planning and the opportunities to benefit from prioritizing adaptation technologies in the TNA process will be showcased.
