The Global Call for Climate Action

Antonio Hill started as the new Executive Director of the GCCA in April 2014. Mr. Hill previously worked for Oxfam, where he was a Policy Adviser since 2000.


From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Hill worked as Senior Policy Adviser for Oxfam’s global campaign for an international climate change agreement in the interest of people living in poverty. He specialized in issues relating to international climate finance for adaptation. Mr. Hill advised rural development programmes on small-scale agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, international trade, and environment and natural resources conservation, from 2000-06, and his most recent role with Oxfam was as Campaigns and Advocacy Adviser for the Latin America and Caribbean region.


Before joining Oxfam, Mr. Hill worked for the World Foundation for Environment and Development (WFED), where he focused on international climate change and biodiversity conservation issues. In 1997, WFED published a four-volume sourcebook on lessons learned from an early pilot of international carbon market arrangements that Mr. Hill edited.


In addition to his work with Oxfam and WFED, Mr. Hill served as a member of the Steering Committee of the UK Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy from 2008 to 2010. From 2008 to 2009, he advised the Government of Colombia on climate adaptation issues through a consultancy with UNDP. In 2011, he participated in COP17 as a member of the Bolivian delegation as lead adviser on climate finance. In 2013 and 2014, respectively, Mr. Hill taught diploma courses on international climate finance for civil servants in the Government of El Salvador and government officials from across the Latin America region.


Mr. Hill holds a B.A. in Government and Asian Studies from Dartmouth College and a M.Sc. in Development Studies (Environment & Development) from the London School of Economics. He also has a certificate in Macroeconomic Policy from the Brandeis International Business School.
