Momentum for Change is an initiative spearheaded by the UN Climate Change secretariat to shine a
light on the enormous groundswell of activities underway across the globe that are moving the world
toward a highly resilient, low-carbon future. Momentum for Change looks for innovative and
transformative solutions that address both climate change and wider economic, social and

Momentum for Change: Areas of Focus
recognizing climate action that improves the lives of impoverished people in urban communities. This

Momentum for Change holds calls for applications on an annual basis. Prospective activities must
already be demonstrating results in mitigating or adapting to climate change and have a scalable,
replicable, transformative and innovative component.
Each year, the Momentum for Change Advisory Panel selects a small number of activities to become
Lighthouse Activities. These activities are recognized during the United Nations Climate Change
All applications that meet the criteria will be presented in the Momentum for Change activity database.
Applications are being accepted from 31 March to 23 May for the 2014 Lighthouse Activities.
