The Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

The Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) provides an update of knowledge on the scientific, technical and socioeconomic aspects of climate change. Working Group I, Working Group II, and Working Group III reports were approved in 2013 and 2014. The Synthesis Report will be finalized in October 2014.

Working Group I Report "Climate Change 2013: The Physical Science Basis"

SBSTA-IPCC special event WGI Contribution to AR5 (12 November 2013)

The Working Group I contribution considers past and future changes in the climate system, such as temperature of land and ocean, precipitation, ice and glaciers, sea level rise, atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gas, ocean acidification, and energy budget. It also evaluates climate models, response to the climate system, human influence to climate change, and committed climate change.

Working Group II Report "Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability"

 SBSTA-IPCC special event WGII Contribution to AR5 (4 June 2014, 13.15-14.45)

The Working Group II contribution considers impacts in natural and human systems on all continents and across the oceans caused by changes in climate in recent decades. The report evaluates how patterns of risks and potential benefits are shifting due to climate change, and looks at how impacts and risks related to climate change can be reduced and managed through adaptation and mitigation. Information is considered by sectors (water resources; ecosystems; food & forests; coastal systems; industry; human health) and regions.

Working Group III Report "Climate Change 2014: Mitigation of Climate Change"

SBSTA-IPCC special event WGIII Contribution to AR5 (6 June 2014, 13.15-14.45 )

The Working Group III contribution assesses the scientific, technological, environmental, economic and social aspects of mitigation. It assesses trends in greenhouse gas emissions, mitigation policies and long-term mitigation pathways with various sectors, which comprise energy supply, transport, buildings, industry, agriculture (land use), and human settlements.
