On 30th October 2006, the UN Climate Change Secretariat based in Bonn, Germany will present highlights from the Greenhouse Data Report, 2006 – the most comprehensive and authoritative source of GHG data to date. The report presents detailed emissions data for nearly all 189 Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, especially for the major industrialized nations.
The United Nations Climate Change Conference: Nairobi 2006 will be the first conference of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa and is expected to draw up to six thousand participants.
The location of the conference on the continent, which is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, will help focus attention on such issues as adaptation to climate change, along with the funding and the capacity building required for developing countries to adapt and to participate in the clean development mechanism. Other key issues are technology transfer and the future of the international climate change regime.
UNFCCC Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer will head a panel of senior secretariat officials
to brief the media on the Conference.
Those journalists who cannot follow the conference on site will be able to watch it via webcast at
