It has been prepared as part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands Environmental Protection Authority (RMIEPA) implementation of the Pacific Islands Climate Change Assistance Programme (PICCAP).

The Republic of the Marshall Islands signed the UNFCCC on the 4th of June 1992 and ratified it on the 8th of October 1992 .
