On 7 February 2011, UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres began sending personal messages via
her new Twitter account, @CFigueres. She
sent first tweets from Pakistan, where she visited the homeless resulting from the devastating floods
of 2010. With such disasters set to become more frequent and intense due to climate change, she drew
attention to the need for rebuilding in Pakistan to be climate-smart.
