To coincide with the second week of the Bonn UN Climate Change Talks, the UNFCCC Secretariat organized a
media training workshop at the Maritim Hotel in Bonn, the conference venue.
As a capacity-building initiative for developing country journalists, the workshop was jointly organized with
Com+, the
sustainable development communications alliance. It was made possible through capacity-building support
provided by Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Dutch Governments, along with Com+. The Climate Change Media
Partnership (CCMP) also invited a group of developing
country journalists and contributed substantively towards the workshop programme.
The topics that were discussed at the Bonn workshop comprised the status of UN climate change negotiations,
the latest climate change science, expectations of the Mexican host government for COP 16 and views of the
business community on prospects for job creation in developing countries through robust action on climate
change (with a focus on wind energy). CCMP organized a panel of key negotiators who explained the positions
of their governments. Journalists were able to attend all press briefings and side events.
The workshop presentations and documentation are posted for educational purposes only. For questions
regarding the workshop, please contact Maria Garcia, mgarcia@unfccc.int
