Training courses for reviews under the Kyoto Protocol
The updated training programme is designed to specifically address the requirements for annual reviews in
accordance with the guidelines under Article 8 of the the Kyoto Protocol. It consists of the following five
modules:
B. Application of adjustments (mandatory for all review experts)
C. Modalities for the accounting of assigned amounts under Article 7.4 (mandatory for lead reviewers
and experts reviewing national registries and information on assigned amounts) D. Review of national registries and information on assigned amounts (mandatory for lead reviewers, generalists and experts reviewing national registries and information on assigned amounts, recommended to all review experts)This course provides guidance for members of ERTs reviewing annual information on assigned amounts pursuant to Article 3, paragraphs 7 and 8, of the Kyoto Protocol, information on Kyoto Protocol units and the standard electronic format for conformity with Article 7, paragraph 4, of the Kyoto Protocol. In addition, the course provides guidance on the review of national registries, including changes in the national registries reported by the Parties in accordance with decision 15/CMP.1 and conformity with the technical standards for data exchange between registry systems
E. Review of activities under Article 3, paragraphs 3 and 4, of the Kyoto Protocol (mandatory for
LULUCF experts, recommended to lead reviewers) Following completion of the on-line course, trainees are required to pass mandatory course examinations. Trainees who successfully pass the course examinations will qualify to be invited to participate in an annual review in the future. In addition, the courses are available to all members of expert review teams and interested Parties throughout the year without instructor support.
