International and regional research programmes and organizations - initial list

In preparing this list, the secretariat has made every effort to include organizations and programmes with broad memberships that carry out, facilitate, coordinate or fund research activities on scientific, environmental and socio-economic topics related to climate change in a regional and/or global context.  It should also be noted that a number of the organizations and programmes listed here have mandates broader than research per se, i.e. in addition to their research activities they also focus on education, capacity-building, training and development activities.  Likewise, they may have a major focus on topics other than climate change per se (e.g. agriculture, observations) but have relevant linkages to climate change related research as part of their major activities.

The following is an initial list, i.e. it is not meant to be exhaustive, and can be updated regularly, as appropriate.
