The Conference of the Parties (COP), at its seventh session, in its decision 21/CP.7, requested the secretariat to organize a workshop on methodologies for adjustments under Article 5, paragraph 2 of the Kyoto Protocol with the participation of greenhouse gas inventory experts, experts nominated to the UNFCCC roster of experts and experts involved in the preparation of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report entitled “Good Practice Guidance and Uncertainty Management in National Greenhouse Gas Inventories”. The purpose of the workshop is to elaborate draft technical guidance on methodologies for adjustments under Article 5, paragraph 2, building upon submissions by Parties contained in documents FCCC/SBSTA/2000/MISC.1 and Add.1, FCCC/SBSTA/2000/MISC.7 and Add.1 and 2, as well as FCCC/TP/2000/1, for consideration by the SBSTA at its sixteenth session.

This workshop focused on methodological and technical issues relating to the identification/development of possible methodologies for adjustments, taking into account specific circumstances of each IPCC sector (excluding land-use change and forestry), and will elaborate a proposed structure and elements for the draft technical guidance.
