20 years after their birth, three sister Rio Conventions reaffirm their
collective responsibility for sustainable development 21 June
2012
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The heads of the secretariats of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD),
the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the United
Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) reaffirmed their
determination to work to generate synergies in national implementation in
support of sustainable development.

At the 5th OPEC International Seminar, UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana
Figueres highlighted efforts by member States towards a low-carbon future, and
suggested that there are many win-win solutions for both climate change and for
OPEC that put OPEC nations at the cutting edge of the energy future.

Rio Conventions join forces for sustainable development and the future
we want 13 June 2012
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
At the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), the
secretariats of the biodiversity, climate change and desertification
conventions and the Global Environment Facility are joining forces under the
Rio Conventions Pavilion to promote implementation of these three multilateral
environmental agreements on sustainable development.
