Opening UNFCCC press conference
The opening UNFCCC press conference of the UN Climate Change Conference in Panama City (1 to 7 October
2011) is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 2 October at 13:00 EST. The venue is the Centro de
Convenciones ATLAPA, Avenida 5 B Sur, Panama City, room San Lorenzo. Media must have prior
accreditation in order to attend.
The briefing with UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres will also be webcast live from the
website, as will all other press conferences during the meeting. The video files of briefings can also
be accessed on demand from the website .
For planning purposes, please note Ms. Figueres will also give a closing press conference on Friday, 7
October at 13:15 EST.

Accreditation for the UN Climate Change Conference in Panama is open. The deadline for accreditation is
Wednesday, 28 September 2011.
Bona fide representatives of the national and international media can apply for accreditation to the
conference. Only one accreditation is required and will cover participation in the sessions of both ad
hoc working groups.

RegistrationTop
All participants are requested to register upon arrival at the desk located in the Centro de
Convenciones ATLAPA, Avenida 5 B Sur, Panama City, Panama
- A valid photo ID should be presented to the registration staff.
- Early registration is highly recommended to avoid delays on the first day of the sessions.
Registration times:
- Friday, 30 September 2011, from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
- Saturday 1 October, until Thursday, 6 October, from 8.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
- Friday, 7 October, from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Double registration for the session is not permitted (i.e. observer organization representative
and Party or State representative and/or press/media representative).
Press badges issued at previous UNFCCC conferences do not remain valid. Members of the press must be
accredited for each meeting.
Badges are essential in order for participants to gain access to the premises. They are issued only on
the basis of accreditation as a media professional representing a bona fide media organization.
For security reasons, participants are requested to wear their badges at all times.

Additional information on press conferences
All foreigners entering Panama must have a valid passport. Participants requiring a visa for Panama, or
a transit visa, are strongly encouraged to contact the appropriate consular authorities as soon as the
notification is received.
