Information on the meetings
The Daily Programme provides information on all scheduled meetings of the Convention bodies,
including their timing and venue, and the agenda items to be considered. It also provides schedules of
the meetings of other groups and of press briefings, as well as other announcements relevant to the
conference. The Programme is available in English and French at the Documents Distribution Counter and
on the UNFCCC web site.
Please note that information contained in the Programme is subject to change according to the needs of
the negotiating process. Any changes or important announcements are displayed on the CCTV
monitors located in the foyer of the Palais des Congrès and elsewhere on the conference
premises. This information can also be viewed on the UNFCCC web site.
The Information Desk, located opposite the main entrance of the Palais des Congrès,
provides information about the meetings and the venue.

Computer and communication servicesTop
Computer facilities. Computers and high-speed printers are available to participants on a first come,
first served basis. These computers, located in Espace Asni on the ground floor, are equipped with word
processing and spreadsheet software and are connected to the Internet.
The helpdesk staff at the Computer Centre also assist participants who wish to make colour prints,
printouts on overhead transparencies or scans of pictures.
Note: Please be considerate and do not monopolize the equipment, which is intended for use by all
participants.
Telephones, fax machines, and modem jacks. Pay telephones are located in the area between the Palais
des Congrès and the COP 7 Village as well as in various locations around the conference centre.
Fax machines as well as plug-and-play desks to connect laptops to the Internet are located on the
ground floor in Espace Medina next to the Documents Distribution Counter. Additional plug-and-play
desks are available in espace Ourika in the basement.
For instructions on how to use the plug-and-play desks to dial up the Internet, please see the
information stickers on the desks or contact Maroc Telecom staff at the Information Desk.
The Maroc Telecom team also sells mobile phones as well as phone cards needed to operate the telephones
in and around the Palais des Congrès.
Funding for delegatesTop
Delegates from Parties eligible for funding may collect their daily subsistence allowance (DSA) from
the UNFCCC Administration office located on the second floor. The office can be accessed from the
stairwell. Please present your passport or other official identity document (photo ID), tickets and
boarding pass stubs to the travel officer when claiming DSA.

Services available to NGOsTop
Offices and a meeting room for environmental NGOs, business and industry groups as well as local NGOs
are located in the Atlas Hotel. Each office is equipped with three PC workstations and a printer. NGO
Press Briefings will be held in room Al Waha located in the COP 7 Village.

Information on Marrakech. Information on hotel reservations, local transportation, car rental, train
and air travel, as well as tourist information and arrangements for sight-seeing tours are provided by
staff of the GIE at the Information Desk.

In addition, the entrance area of the COP 7 Village houses displays of Moroccan art and handicraft. For
more information on these exhibitions, please contact GIE staff at the Information Desk or the GIE
counter at the entrance of the COP 7 Village.
Pigeon-holes. Pigeon-holes for the distribution of official documents and the messages of delegates are
located at the Documents Distribution Counter. Participants are kindly requested to refrain from
distributing non-official material via the pigeon-holes. Representatives of non-governmental
organizations may post messages on the message board located in the main foyer near the Information
Desk.
Restaurants. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the Palais des Congrès and in the COP 7
Village outside the Palais des Congrès. The COP 7 Village also houses an Italian and a Moroccan
restaurant as well as a traditional Moroccan Salon de Thé. Vouchers for meals in these facilities
are available at the GIE counter in the Palais des Congrès and in the entrance area to the COP 7
Village.
Deliveries. Participants expecting deliveries to the Palais des Congrès should contact Mr. Isham
Ouaabbou or Mr. Tariq Aboimadi, located at the Information Desk (Tel.: 044 44 93 64).
Bank. Citibank, located in the foyer of the Palais des Congrès near the main entrance, operates a
service counter for participants of the conference. Services include the processing of DSA payments,
cashing of travellers cheques and changing of major currencies from and into Moroccan Dirham.

Receptions. The Wali de la Région Marrakech Tensift Al Haouz invites all participants of COP 7 to
a welcome reception to be held on Monday, 29 October, 7 p.m., at the Hotel Mansour Eddahbi.
Special events and exhibits. A preliminary calendar of special events and exhibits held during COP 7
will be made available with the first issue of the Daily Programme at the beginning of the conference.
For updates and changes to the calendar, please see the Daily Programme and the announcements on the
CCTV monitors as well as the message board for special events and exhibits in the main foyer and in
front of the NGO Liaison Office in Espace Medina.
In order to provide a better focus for information on events and to avoid paper wastage, participants
are kindly requested to post flyers and posters regarding special events, exhibits or meetings only on
this message board and to inform the secretariat (Ms Barbara Black, Tel.: 044 44 83 90) before posting
any material. Please note that flyers posted in other areas of the conference centre will be removed.
Other events. The World Council of Churches invites COP 7 participants to a Colloquium on Religion and
Environment with a particular focus on Islamic and Christian perspectives on environment and climate
change, to be held Saturday, 3 November 2001, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Hotel Kenzi Farah, Avenue du
Président Kennedy, Marrakech. Lunch will be provided.

Site visits. Several site visits have been organized by the Moroccan delegation on topics related to
climate change. These will take place on Saturday, 3 November. Further information will be made

Emergencies. In case of a medical emergency, please contact the medical staff located in the first aid
room outside the main entrance of the Palais des Congrès or call 04 33 92 92 (between 8 a.m. and
10 p.m.). For other emergencies and medical emergencies after 10 p.m., please contact UN security staff
(wearing either a UN uniform or a UN armband), who will be located at the entrance of the conference
area (Tel.: 062839741 or 062839643).

Personal items. Please be aware that unattended items will be removed. Contact UN security staff,
located in the foyer of the Palais des Congrès (Espace Medina), for lost and found items.
Food or drinks are not permitted in the meeting rooms.
Smoking area. Please note that smoking is not permitted in the Conference Centre, except in the
designated areas.
