Visas

Accommodation

  • Please use this portal for hotel arrangements.

Local transportation

  • Detailed information on free airport transfer and shuttle service between hotel hubs in Marrakech and the conference site at Bab Ighli for registered participants is available here.
  • In addition, there are two kinds of electric vehicles available for transfers between the conference site and the 12 hotel zones for participants.
    • Renault COP shuttle service: Participants can request this service at the shuttle service help desk in each designated hotel or at the conference venue shuttle service hub.
    • Toyota UberGreen shuttle service: Participants can download the Uber app available in Google and iTunes stores. Use the code "COP22" to request these electric cars for free hotel transfers. Further information is available at the entry/exit of the Blue Zone.
    • Please note that the vehicles can transport up to two people and are available on a first-come, first served basis.

Participation and registration

Access to the conference venue

  • The conference site has been open to Parties starting from 0800, Saturday, 5 Nov. 2016; 
  • The conference site has been open to media starting from 0800, Sunday, 6 Nov. 2016; 
  • The conference site has been open to observer organizations starting from 0800, Monday, 7 Nov. 2016; 
  • The conference site has been open to delegations renting commercial space for offices or pavilions within the Blue Zone to set up starting from 0800, Saturday, 5 Nov. 2016; 
  • The conference site opened at 1400, Sunday, 6 Nov. 2016, to those observers who organize exhibits during the first week of the conference. This is limited to up to four registered participants for each exhibit, and please contact the service desk of the registration counter for additional badges;
  • The conference site will be closed on Sunday, 13 Nov. 2016, with minimum services provided. However, delegation offices remain accessible to Parties and delegations with offices on the conference site.

 Participation at the preparatory meetings

  • A number of pdf-icon preparatory meetings of the least developed countries, the small island developing States, the African Group and the Group of 77 and China took place before the Marrakech conference.

 Preparing for the high-level segment

  • The high-level segment, to be attended by dignitaries, ministers and other senior officials, will be inaugurated in the morning of Tuesday, 15 November 2016. Heads of State and Government have been invited by His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, to participate in the high-level segment on that day.
  • Parties will have the opportunity to deliver a national statement at the joint plenary meetings to be held during the high-level segment on Tuesday, 15 November, and Wednesday, 16 November. National statements may be delivered by the Head of State or Government, a minister or the head of delegation.

 Consignments and shipping

  • Please refer to the pdf-icon shipping guidelines (358 kB) .
  • To support sustainability efforts by reducing the carbon footprint of the conference and minimizing wastage of resources, the total cumulative weight of your shipments/ packages may not exceed 150 kg (or 200 kg if you are renting an 'area' on a commercial basis) per Party and observer organization. Any surplus weight in excess of the allowance specified above shall give rise to an extra charge. The charge shall be equal to € 0.80/kg excl. VAT, payable upon receipt of the package/ shipment.
  • In this context, an 'area' is defined as clearly defined and delimited space of any size, incorporated in the secretariat's space allocation scheme, where Parties and observer organizations showcase their achievements, products and services pertaining to climate change.
