The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, COP 15

The intergovernmental negotiation process primarily encompasses the Conference of the Parties (COP), the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP), Subsidiary Bodies meetings and a series of workshops.

The COP is the "supreme body" of the Convention. The CMP is the "supreme body" of the Kyoto Protocol. The Convention established two permanent subsidiary bodies: the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI).

DATE AND VENUE OF CONFERENCES IN 2010

United Nations Climate Change Conference - August 2010

The thirteenth session of the AWG-KP and the eleventh session of the AWG-LCA will take place from Monday 2 August to Friday, 6 August 2010 at the Hotel Maritim in Bonn.

The above-mentioned sessions will be preceded by preparatory meetings of the Group of 77 and China, the African Group, the small islands developing States and the least developed countries.

United Nations Climate Change Conference - COP 16 & CMP 6

The sixteenth Conference of the Parties (COP) and the sixth Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) will be held in Cancún, Mexico, from 29 November to 10 December 2010.
