Eligibility for press accreditation
The deadline for COP 10 accreditation was 29 November 2004. Accreditation for COP 10 is
possible, but may result in delays in issuing press badges.
Media participation at UNFCCC Conferences is subject to accreditation by the UNFCCC. Press
accreditation is strictly reserved for members of the press - print media, photo, radio, TV, film and
news agencies - who fully meet UN media accreditation requirements. Accreditation will be granted
upon presentation of valid press credentials including a:
- Completed accreditation form [submit online]
- Letter of assignment on official letterhead of a media organization signed by the
Publisher/Assignment Editor, Editor-in-chief or Bureau Chief, specifying the name and functional
title of the journalist
- Photocopy of a valid press card/work pass
- Photocopy of passport/national ID card
Send all credentials by fax to (+54-11) 4777-5603 or by e-mail to press@unfccc.int
Please complete the online accreditation form and submit it electronically. Send the letter of
assignment via fax or e-mail, along with a photocopy of your press card and national ID. It is not
necessary to send photos. Photos will be taken at the conference site when your press badge is
issued.
Freelance journalists and independent TV crews are subject to the same requirements. Journalists
accompanying their Heads of State or Ministers must also be accredited by UNFCCC.

Press badges issued at previous UNFCCC conferences do not remain valid. However, members of the press
who have previously been duly accredited to UNFCCC conferences may enter their first and last names,
update any contact details if necessary, then choose the "Fast track" option on this
form. A new letter of assignment is required, as are current copies of the press card/work pass and
passport.
