Peru, one of the riskiest countries to climate hazards in the world, finds neccesary an effective implementation of its national strategy for climate change. Using a bottom up approach and performing scientific, political and public participation activities, Peru has learned lessons that would like to share with the global community.

15 years of climate protection in Barcelona

Barcelona was the first city in the world to pass an ordinance requiring the installation of solar energy technologies in new buildings.  Since the year 2000, the surface area of solar installations has increased ten-fold, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 3000 tonnes.  Barcelona’s solar ordinance is part of the City’s Energy Improvement Plan, a global plan of action to reduce energy consumption and support renewable energy with specific, quantifiable objectives for the year 2010.
