Ceiling on media participation inside the conference venues
To ensure that all media have adequate access to available facilities within which to work and for
security and safety reasons, maximum media participation is 2,000 persons. All registered media will
have full access to the facilities and services described below.

PRESS REGISTRATION AT THE COP 16 VENUE
- All media proceeding to the Cancunmesse location to register for the conference MUST bring with
them a printed copy of the their APPROVED Media Accreditation Status online form together with their
passport.
- A valid photo ID should be presented to the registration staff.
- Early registration is highly recommended in order to avoid delays
Opening hours
From Tuesday, 23 November 2010 to Sunday, 28 November 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
From Monday, 29 November 2010 to Friday, 10 December 2010 from 7:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Double registration for the sessions is not permitted (i.e., as State representative and observer
organization representative, or as State representative and press/media)
Press badges issued at previous UNFCCC conferences do not remain valid. Members of the press must be
accredited for each meeting.
Badges are essential in order for participants to gain access to the premises. They are issued only on
the basis of accreditation as a media professional representing a bona fide media organization.
For security reasons, all participants are requested to wear their badges at all times.
Please visit the host country website for visa
requirements. The UNFCCC secretariat is not in a position to issue invitation letters for visa
purposes. You may use the confirmation of your accreditation when making your application, as well as
the letter of assignment from your media organization.
Press and Media representatives bringing into Mexico professional equipment exceeding items allowed as
luggage free of import taxes for tourists must obtain a "Correspondent visa" at the nearest
Mexican embassy or consulate. Media representatives will prepare a list of the said professional
equipment, which a Mexican diplomatic office will need to certify/stamp. That list must include the
following information for each item: description, serial number, brand, country of origin and
approximate price in U.S. dollars
AccommodationTop
Media representatives accredited to cover UNFCCC meetings are responsible for their own travel and
hotel bookings. The secretariat is not in a position to make these arrangements. Accommodation is
available at official conference
hotels, or at any other hotel of choice.
A free continuous transport system will operate between all official conference hotels and the
Cancunmesse venue. All access to the Moon Palace will be through the security check point at the
Cancunmesse. Continuous shuttle buses will take participants from the Cancunmesse to the Moon Palace.
No direct access to the Moon Palace will be granted. Inside the Moon Palace, shuttle
buses will operate every 12 minutes between the Nizuc Lobby Building (Media Centre/IBC), the Expo
Centre and the Sunrise Lobby Building.

The International Broadcasting Center (IBC) will provide working facilities for broadcasters, including
the provision of standup postions, MCR and distribution services. Broadcasters having an interest to
use these services should contact: ibc@unfccc.int
Facts to Consider
Power Supply in Mexico is 110volts.
Broadcast Signal will be in NTSC.
Broadcast Signal will only be available for download through SDI.
Closed Circuit TV Facility
The Host Broadcaster will cover all proceedings from
gavel-to-gavel in Plenaries 1 & 2 and Press Conference Rooms 1, 2 & 3. All the coverage will be
available to be monitored on the CCTV network and distributed to the Media Centre and IBC
